 DPO Dara:a corrupt senior police officer corporal Baka: a police officer who is dedicated to his duties and lost his life in the process

Damara: wife of corporal Baka

Inspector Sanda: an investigative police officer

Writer: a human rights activist currently writing an article on Widows plight.

Other characters are Salo,robbers.

Act 1 /scene 1

Curtain opens in the sitting room of Mr and Mrs Baka,enters cpl Baka a well built police  man apparently in his late thirties he is accompanied by his wife, a conversation starts.

Cpl Baka: my dear thank you for the delicious breakfast, you know I some times wonder how I will survive without you available to cook mouth watering dishes.

Damara: thank you honey , don't worry I will always be available(smiles)   .

Cpl Baka: go and prepare the children  for school, I will be off to work you know DPO hates late coming and worse still my duty post this week is his house.

Damara: I know you too well than that, you are just using the DPO's home as excuse but you have always  been so dedicated to your work. (Laughs) good bye my love (she kisses him)

Cpl Baka: good bye dear.  

                                       Exits  .

Act 2/scene 2

 Curtain opens in the office of DPO Dara the office has an image of the superintendent on the wall,some awards on display and a calendar. The DPO can be seen sitting on a chair going through a news paper enters insp Sanda

Insp.Sanda: good morning Sir (salutes)

DPO : morning Sanda how are you doing?

Insp.Sanda: am fine sir how is the family

DPO:they are fine  ,inspector sit down for a moment (points a chair )

   So inspector what about the case of those two armed robbers you are on?

Insp sanda: oh yes sir am still investigating the magnitude of harm this young men have caused and there are speculations that the men are not alone in.. .........(DPO cuts in)

DPO: I can see you are doing a great job Inspector, but unfortunately I want you to drop the case.

Insp Sanda:drop the case you say sir? (Looking surprised )

DPO: yes you heard me right drop the case 

Insp Sanda :but sir this case is . ...

DPO: but what ,are you deaf ? I said you will release them is an order is that clear? Now leave my office( looking fierce )

Insp Sanda: yes sir( reluctantly salutes and exits stage)

DPO: (to self) what nonsense small boys trying to teach me my job. Does he even know who's son he got arrested, Honourable Adetokunbo. Chief has offered me a million 

And this bastard is here trying to ruin my big catch nonsense.  ... .

                                              Curtain closes 

Act 3 /scene 3

 Curtain opens to reveal luxuriously furnished sitting room  DPO Dara and his wife Salo are watching TV . gunshots are heard outside and chief springs up . .enters robbers.

Robber 1: Mr man come back here (points gun)

Salo: ahhh  please don't kill us ,please don't kill us .

Robber 2: madam we will not kill you just do what we tell you and you will live or else ( points gun) you will die

Robber 1 : why are you speaking too much English. DPO where is the 1 million?

DPO: which million I swear I don't have that amount please believe me my salary is very small please ! Please !

Robber 3 : it is as if this one want to die wo , DPO we are here for business do you want to end up like the man at your gate?

DPO : ahh corporal Baka ahh (cries)

Robber 1: DPO don't cry for us here go and bring the money my father gave you simple  .

DPO: your father? (Cries the more)

Robber1: yes fool, what did you think before  chief Adetokunbo is my father,he and everything about him is corruption,how do you think he got all his money?+laughs). He embezzles all the money he is supposed to use for the development of his constituency and people like you said and abet his crimes 

  You helped free me but am just surprised how he will give a thief as you such big amount. Now go and bring that money!

DPO: I have been a corrupt officer all my life , please don't kill me I promise I will repent I will go and bring the money.( jumps up and tries to run but is shot to death)

Robber 2: bravo why did you shoot him let's get out of here quick.

Robber3: can't you see he tried running? What about the wife capo she heard everything.

Robber 1: kill her 

Robber 3: (attempts to shoot,but then gunshot). 

 Exchange of gunshots between police men and the robbers ,all three robbers drop dead curtain closes.

Act 3/scene 1

Curtain opens in corporal Baka"s apartment,Damara is seen sitting on the couch with hands on her chick ,tears drop from her eyes as she speaks to the writer.

Damara: so that is the story my sister my husband joined the police because he only cared for a better country. He always spoke about how proud he would be to see kojo graduate from the university (wipes her tears) he was going that morning and I didn't know (sobs).

Writer: am sorry ma, it was indeed a great loss .I know how it feels to lose a loved one having lost my mother too at a very young age . I have noticed the pain and agony of Widows in this part of the world that is why I decided to embark on this project, the world must hear the voices of these widows.

Damara: look at me and my two children we have been abandoned by the whole world now that my husband is late.My husband only left here to perform his duty at his DPOs house and got entangled in the corruption palaver.

Writer: it is indeed saddening to see the amount of harm corruption has caused in our society today!I assure the bad roads poor infrastructures , half baked graduates,unemployment and the whole economy in fact are all product of corruption. Corruption found a habitat,conceived got nourished and beget all this ills and woes ,it is a pity.

Damara: indeed it is (sigh's)

Writer: I will be coming some other time ma ,it's getting late I must be on my way now. Just do be strong God will see you and your children through everything, you said Kojo is writing his junior certificate exams right? Don't worry I will pay the fees(rises up )

Damara: ahh my dear God will bless you thank you very much ,thank you let me see you off then , God will bless you!
